What does the Forget Pin button really do?

I am intrigued with the Forget Pin button. Pinning is about bringing contacts up in the panel, so that they are easier to find when needed. Am I understanding this correctly?

Indeed, the role of pinning is to keep a contact in your immediate reach, as you communicate quite often. When clicking the button "Forget Pin", the contact is no longer kept within the first contacts in the roster.

Hubgets prioritizes the position of contacts in the roster based on the dynamics of your interaction with them.
